About the role
Are you passionate about electronics, troubleshooting, and fault-finding? We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Test Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, diagnosing, repairing, and reporting faults on electronic products within a manufacturing environment. You will perform acceptance testing at various production stages, conduct component-level troubleshooting and repairs, and ensure products meet the highest quality and performance standards.

Qualification & experience
Minimum requirements
- Minimum T3, N6, or S4 Electronic Engineering qualification; Preferably Diploma in Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing production test environment.
- Understanding of Computer-Based and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) testing will be advantageous.
- Proven experience in Radio Frequency (RF) measurements (essential).
- Experience in component-level fault finding and repair within an electronics environment.
- Working knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuits and test equipment.
- IPC certification will be advantageous.
- Military electronics environment experience will be advantageous.
Key technical skills

- Natural aptitude for hands-on technical work.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electronic circuit diagrams and schematics.
- Technical, wiring, and manufacturing drawings.
- Intermediate computer literacy.
- Product assembly knowledge or willingness to be trained.
- Understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety requirements.
- Ability to operate and maintain electronic test equipment and associated software.
- Functional knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Key responsibilities
1. Test Preparation and Execution
- Familiarise yourself with test setups, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure all required documentation, instrumentation, test jigs, software, firmware, and tools are available before testing.
- Prepare Units Under Test (UUTs) according to documented procedures.
- Conduct testing in accordance with:
- Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)
- Test Result Records (TRR)
- Work Instructions (WI)
- Product specifications and functional requirements
- Perform alignment and configuration according to approved procedures and specifications.
- Use circuit diagrams, diagnostic procedures, and test equipment to perform fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to minimise defects and failures.
2. Quality Inspection and Calibration
- Adhere to all quality standards and testing documentation requirements.
- Complete all relevant test records and documentation accurately.
- Ensure workmanship meets the required quality standards.
- Create Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) reports for non-conforming units where required.
- Conduct and support:
- Burn-in testing
- Environmental Stress Screening (ESS)
- Vibration testing
- Other prescribed environmental tests
- Present completed units to Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for inspection and acceptance.
3. Maintenance, Repair and Rework
- Perform diagnostics at subsystem and system level.
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair products to full operational functionality.
- Conduct lead-free soldering on SMT and discrete PCB assemblies in accordance with IPC skill-level approvals.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Raise FRACAS reports where applicable.
- Verify and update linked serial numbers for Units Under Test.
4. General Responsibilities
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and disciplinary code.
- Carry out any reasonable duties assigned by your direct line manager.
- Complete and maintain job cards, test records, fault reports, and related documentation.
- Provide timely and accurate feedback to supervisors and management.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and report safety concerns.
- Meet agreed production and delivery targets.
