About the role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Technical Customer Services Manager to lead and optimise all customer technical support functions. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality service delivery, effective project execution, and sustainable revenue generation aligned with the GEW business plan.

The successful candidate will be accountable for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and long-term service profitability, while driving continuous improvement across technical service operations and client engagement.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum BEng / BSc in Electronic Engineering or equivalent university qualification.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in electronic systems engineering or technical support.
  • Strong background in defence and/or telecommunications products.  
  • Proven experience in client relationship management.
  • Ability to obtain secret security clearance.

 

Key technical skills

  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • MS Office
    • MS Project
    • Power BI
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Strong project and programme management capability (PMBOK aligned).
  • Solid financial management skills (budgeting, cost control, revenue tracking).
  • Excellent technical and business writing ability.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify and convert opportunities into profitable outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities

1. Customer technical services delivery & Client satisfaction

  • Deliver integrated technical support services aligned with SLAs and customer expectations
  • Establish service systems and reporting frameworks for performance visibility
  • Build and maintain strategic client relationships
  • Optimise resource utilisation to improve efficiency and responsiveness

2. Technical operations performance & Product reliability

  • Lead Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Integrated Product Verification (IPV), Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO), and technical service functions to ensure standardisation and quality
  • Verify product performance against specifications to ensure operational readiness
  • Improve maintenance and repair processes to enhance turnaround times
  • Implement lifecycle and localisation strategies for sustainable product support

3. Financial performance, Revenue realisation & Project delivery

  • Manage budgets and control costs in line with business targets
  • Drive contract execution and revenue realisation
  • Maximise billable utilisation and cost recovery
  • Deliver projects using structured methodologies to meet scope, time, and cost objectives
  • Establish and grow sustainable customer service operations

4. Strategic execution, Sales enablement & Risk management

  • Support sales and bid processes with technical expertise
  • Align operational capacity with business demand
  • Contribute to strategic business execution and growth initiatives
  • Identify and mitigate operational and contractual risks

5. Leadership, Capability development & Governance

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Drive talent development and succession planning
  • Ensure compliance with OHS and organisational policies
  • Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
