About the Role 

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Systems Technician to support the successful delivery of complex engineering projects by performing system engineering, integration, testing, verification, and technical support activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the full system lifecycle, from requirements analysis and system design through to integration, acceptance testing, client support, and operational deployment, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification. 

 

Qualifications and experience: 

  • National Diploma in Electronic Engineering (BTech will be advantageous). 

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a product development environment. 

  • Experience in Radio Frequency (RF) measurements is essential. 

  • IPC certification would be advantageous. 

  • Experience working with analogue and digital electronics and test equipment. 

  • Experience in system integration, testing, product development, or defence technology environments would be advantageous. 

 

Key technical skills: 

  • Solid knowledge of mathematics, physical sciences, and general electronic/mechanical engineering principles. 

  • Engineering design, innovation, simulation, and rapid prototyping techniques. 

  • Understanding and application of engineering processes and review gates. 

  • Product knowledge and implementation of engineering solutions. 

  • Broad understanding of system-level manufacturing techniques. 

  • Functional performance and manufacturability principles. 

  • Engineering drawing standards and technical documentation. 

  • Precision assembly of complex system designs. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

Task Planning and Contracting 

  • Obtain work package requirements from Systems Engineers. 

  • Define scope, execution plans, costs, and deliverables for approval. 

  • Execute work packages in accordance with company processes. 

  • Report deviations and ensure authorised work processes are followed. 

System Definition and Design 

  • Assist engineers with system design, integration, and performance objectives. 

  • Translate system specifications into subsystem and component design requirements. 

  • Develop and review system designs using approved engineering processes. 

  • Prepare manufacturing data packs and support design validation and optimisation. 

System Verification and Validation 

  • Plan and support system installation and integration activities. 

  • Develop assembly instructions and test procedures. 

  • Perform system installation, configuration, procurement, and integration. 

  • Maintain configuration-controlled data packs and support system shipment activities. 

System Testing and Verification 

  • Conduct operational, product, and system-level testing. 

  • Perform acceptance testing and regression testing. 

  • Support factory acceptance tests, customer training, and field deployment. 

  • Document test procedures, resolve defects, and ensure products meet contractual requirements. 

General Engineering Activities 

  • Perform fault finding, debugging, and technical investigations. 

  • Liaise with suppliers and support engineering documentation. 

  • Assist with system integration, quality assembly, coaching, and knowledge transfer. 

  • Support continuous improvement and engineering best practices. 

Quality Management – Controls and Standards Adherence 

  • Ensure compliance with quality and configuration management standards. 

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of quality processes throughout project execution. 

General 

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures. 

  • Support system shipping activities. 

  • Execute reasonable ad hoc tasks as required. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. 

Maintenance 

  • Perform routine maintenance and fault diagnosis on hardware and software. 

  • Develop maintenance strategies and procedures. 

  • Carry out repairs and ensure equipment remains operational and reliable.
