About the Role
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Representative to ensure that externally provided products consistently meet GEW’s stringent quality standards. This role is pivotal in improving supplier build quality, driving compliance with workmanship, process, and quality requirements, and ensuring that all product documentation meets traceability and regulatory obligations.
You will engage directly with suppliers and internal customers, conducting supplier capability assessments, production qualifications, and First Article Inspections (FAI), while proactively managing supplier quality performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum N6 in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering; Advanced Diploma preferred.
- Training in EN9100 / ISO 9001 and Advanced Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- 3–5 years’ experience applying quality standards in complex system development, production, and after-sales support (preferably in the defence sector).
- Valid driver's lisence with personal reliable transport is a pre-requisite for this position.
Key Technical Skills
- Experience in design, manufacturing, and after-sales environments.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Standards (ISO 9001, EN 9100, IPC, etc.).
- Skilled in Quality Analysis Tools (Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, TOC).
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing quality control methods and techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project management skills with ERP systems exposure.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
- Ability to interpret contracts and understand international regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Qualification
- Conduct preliminary assessments with Procurement for potential suppliers.
- Lead onboarding supplier capability studies to verify compliance with GEW requirements.
2. Supplier Relationship Management
- Verify suppliers’ acceptance of GEW minimum quality requirements.
- Conduct manufacturability and process capability audits for GEW-designed parts.
- Develop quality measurement plans and FAI criteria for new products.
- Ensure supplier complaints and non-conformances are resolved and prevented from recurring.
- Liaise with suppliers on environmental and regulatory compliance for new subsystems.
- Analyse and provide feedback on supplier performance data.
3. Incoming Goods Verification
- Supervise incoming goods verification (IGV) personnel.
- Ensure all verification and supplier product documentation is captured in ERP systems.
4. Reporting & Meetings
- Monitor and report supplier quality performance to management.
- Participate in supplier reviews, MRB meetings, and departmental updates.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Drive and monitor supplier and internal quality improvement projects.
- Analyse data to identify opportunities for efficiency and quality gains.
- Contribute to design and implementation of quality improvement strategies.
