About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Support Office Manager to lead and strengthen our Project Support Office within the Programmes and Bids environment.

This role is responsible for providing integrated project support services, establishing consistent project governance and methodologies, coordinating planning and resource activities, and developing project management capability to enable effective programme execution.

The successful candidate will combine strong project management expertise with people leadership, governance and continuous improvement capabilities, and will work closely with Programme Managers, Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to drive consistency, visibility and operational excellence across multiple programme lines.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • National Diploma in Project Management, Engineering, Business Management, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; a relevant degree would be preferred.
  • Formal Project Management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience within a project management, project controls, project support office, programme support or PMO environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ people management experience leading multidisciplinary project support or project services teams.
  • Experience implementing and improving project management methodologies, governance processes and business procedures.
  • Experience supporting complex engineering, manufacturing, defence, aerospace or technology programmes would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities

Project Support Services
Lead the delivery of integrated project support services, including project planning, scheduling, administration, coordination, reporting and resource support, to enable effective programme execution and consistent support across multiple programme lines.

Project Governance, Processes and Methodologies
Implement and continuously improve project governance frameworks, standard operating procedures, methodologies, tools and best practices to promote consistency, compliance and effective project execution.

Planning, Resource Coordination and Performance Reporting
Manage project planning support, resource visibility, capacity reporting, project dashboards, milestone tracking and performance information to enable informed decision-making, optimise resource utilisation and improve programme performance.

Capability Development and Continuous Improvement
Build organisational project management capability through onboarding, coaching, lessons learnt, knowledge sharing and training while continuously improving project support processes, systems and service delivery.

Leadership and Operational Service Delivery
Lead, develop and optimise the Project Support Office team by establishing service standards, managing performance, fostering collaboration and ensuring responsive, customer-focused support that contributes to successful programme delivery.
