About the Role 

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our GEW Business Unit. This role is responsible for the efficient control, movement, storage, and dispatch of inventory and materials across the supply chain to support operational continuity, inventory integrity, and customer service excellence. 

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring materials are accurately received, stored, issued, and shipped while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting production and operational requirements. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment and is committed to accuracy, safety, and operational excellence. 

 

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Grade 12 qualification with relevant informal training.  

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in material handling and supplying materials to a production line.  

  • Previous experience working within a stores, warehouse, or inventory environment.  

  • Experience in packing and processing shipments for both domestic and international destinations.  

  • Experience working with inventory control and material movement processes.  

 

Key technical skills: 

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately fulfil inventory and material requirements.  

  • Sound knowledge of inventory handling, storage, packaging, and labelling standards.  

  • Proficiency in the use of business systems and standard productivity software (MS Excel, MS Word, email, etc.).  

 

Key responsibility areas: 

Inventory Control and Accuracy

  • Maintain inventory and inventory records in accordance with company standards to ensure stock accuracy, traceability and availability.   

Material Flow and Operational Support. 

  • Execute material movements across the value chain in line with operational requirements to ensure continuity of operations and timely fulfilment of demand. 

Shipment Fulfilment and Distribution. 

  • Prepare and dispatch shipments in accordance with customer, company and regulatory requirements to ensure accurate, compliant and timely delivery of goods.
