About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced Development Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of hardware research and development projects throughout the product lifecycle. The successful candidate will manage project scope, schedules, resources, budgets, risks, and stakeholder engagement to deliver innovative, production-ready solutions that meet technical, quality, commercial, and customer requirements. 

Qualifications and experience: 

• Minimum Technical Qualification, undergraduate Degree in Engineering preferred. 

• Formal Project Management training or equivalent. 

• Minimum 4 years', preferably 6 years', Project Management experience within a product development environment. 

• Strong leadership experience. 

Key technical skills: 

• Project planning, scheduling, and project management methodologies. 

• Project lifecycle management and project control techniques. 

• Jira, Project Server, SharePoint, or similar project management tools. 

• Resource and workload planning across multiple projects. 

• Project budgeting and financial management. 

• Product development processes and Systems Engineering principles. 

• Hardware design, development, integration, and testing processes. 

• Manufacturing of complex electronic products and systems. 

• Engineering management within electronic and software development environments. 

• Stakeholder, supplier, and cross-functional team management. 

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. 

Key responsibilities: 

Project Planning and Delivery 

• Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of internal R&D and external Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) hardware projects to ensure project scope, schedules, resources, budgets, risks, and stakeholder requirements are effectively managed resulting in successful project delivery aligned with business and customer objectives. 

Product Lifecycle and Governance 

• Coordinate product roadmaps, project governance, certification activities, technical reviews, and project documentation to ensure product development activities comply with engineering, quality, and business requirements resulting in controlled product lifecycles, regulatory compliance, and effective decision-making. 

Operational and Resource Management 

• Manage engineering priorities, resource allocation, workload planning, supplier coordination, and operational support activities to ensure optimal utilisation of engineering capacity and alignment of development activities resulting in efficient project execution and improved operational performance. 

Financial and Stakeholder Management 

• Manage project budgets, customer communication, supplier engagement, and management reporting to ensure financial control, stakeholder alignment, and transparent project governance resulting in informed decision-making, customer satisfaction, and commercial success. 

Leadership and Capability Development 

• Lead team performance, recruitment support, training coordination, coaching, and performance management activities to ensure a skilled, engaged, and high-performing engineering team resulting in improved capability, succession readiness, and continuous organisational improvement.
