About the role
We are seeking an experienced Certification Engineer to lead and support electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and regulatory compliance activities for products destined for European and Middle Eastern markets.
In this role, you will ensure products meet all relevant EMC and safety standards by delivering accurate test reports, managing certification documentation, and supporting both development and production teams in resolving compliance and reliability challenges. You will play a key role in maintaining audit readiness and ensuring adherence to international regulatory requirements across all systems.
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum BEng or BSc in Electronic or Electrical Engineering; Preferably with specialisation in Electromagnetic Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in EMC testing and certification.
- Proven experience with European market compliance and certification requirements.
Key technical skills
- Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles in electronic products and systems.
- Deep expertise in EMC testing, root cause analysis, and failure resolution.
- Knowledge of environmental testing, HALT/HASS, and electrical safety testing.
- In-depth familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including:
- ISO, MIL-STD, IEC (e.g., IEC 61000)
- IP ratings
- RoHS & REACH
- EU product safety and legal compliance requirements
- Experience in:
- Qualification and localisation plan development.
- Technical training and reliability consultation.
Key responsibilities
1. EMC Testing (Product Level)
- Plan, coordinate, and execute EMC testing in line with commercial and military standards.
- Define and maintain EMC laboratory capabilities and equipment requirements.
- Develop and implement robust, repeatable testing processes.
- Collaborate with design teams to resolve EMC issues and ensure compliance.
- Manage external testing providers when required.
2. Consultation
- Advise internal teams on compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support Sales and Business Development with technical compliance input.
- Deliver training on design-for-compliance principles.
- Provide guidance on RoHS and REACH compliance, including material selection.
3. Certification and regulatory compliance
- Develop and manage qualification and testing plans.
- Produce and maintain compliance documentation (EMC, safety, RoHS, REACH, etc.).
- Support product certification for EU market entry.
- Evaluate supplier materials for compliance and product integrity.
- Lead structured failure investigations (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Gemba).
- Manage test schedules to ensure timely and accurate execution.
