About the Role
The Portfolio Business Analyst is responsible for translating business, customer, and portfolio requirements into structured, traceable solution requirements that enable effective product development, engineering execution, and successful solution delivery across the Product Portfolio. The role partners closely with Product Portfolio, Engineering, Programmes, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned to business objectives, customer needs, and portfolio strategy while maintaining robust requirements governance throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications and experience:
- Minimum BSc Computer Science; preferably a BEng degree in Industrial, Electronic, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience, including at least 5 years in a Business Analyst role.
- Proven experience across the full business analysis lifecycle, including requirements elicitation, process modelling, solution definition, impact assessment, and requirements management.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering, product management, and project delivery environments.
- Experience mentoring teams and contributing to requirements management standards and best practices.
Key technical skills:
- Business requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
- Requirements engineering and end-to-end requirements traceability.
- Business process modelling and process analysis.
- Functional and non-functional requirements specification.
- User story development and acceptance criteria definition.
- Requirements management tools (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect).
- Requirements baseline and change control management.
- URS, SRS, BRDs, and Functional Specifications.
- Requirements verification, validation, and UAT support.
- Systems integration concepts, APIs, and data flow analysis.
- SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Business Intelligence tools.
- Product lifecycle, portfolio, roadmap, reporting, and documentation management.
Key responsibilities:
Requirements Analysis and Solution Definition
Analyse business, customer, operational, and portfolio requirements through stakeholder engagement and structured requirements definition to develop complete, validated, and approved solution specifications that enable successful product development and solution delivery.
Requirements Governance and Traceability
Manage the end-to-end requirements management framework through governance, traceability, baselining, change control, and quality reviews to ensure compliant, consistent, and fully traceable requirements across the entire solution lifecycle.
Product Portfolio and Engineering Alignment
Coordinate collaboration between Product Portfolio, Solution Owners, and Engineering by aligning requirements, roadmaps, implementation plans, and technical dependencies to ensure integrated execution and successful achievement of portfolio objectives.
Solution Verification and Delivery Support
Support solution development and verification activities through acceptance criteria definition, requirements traceability, implementation monitoring, and validation activities to ensure delivered solutions satisfy customer, business, and technical expectations.
Portfolio Insights and Continuous Improvement
Drive portfolio insights and continuous improvement by analysing customer requirements, supporting strategic solution development, and identifying opportunities for enhanced portfolio performance to strengthen business decision-making and future product strategy.
