About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial processing, reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls across the finance function. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, managing statutory and tax compliance requirements, and overseeing debtors, creditors, banking, and cashbook administration.
The ideal candidate will have strong accounting expertise, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of financial governance and reporting accuracy within a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications and experience:

BCom Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Minimum of 3–5 years' relevant accounting experience within a finance environment.

Proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and General Ledger management.

Practical experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.

Sound knowledge of VAT administration, statutory compliance, and audit preparation activities.

Experience working with debtors, creditors, cashbooks, and banking administration processes.

Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of accuracy, financial control, and adherence to deadlines in a high-volume finance environment.
Key technical skills:

Strong knowledge and practical application of IFRS and accounting principles.

Excellent financial reporting, reconciliation, and verification skills.

Strong understanding of General Ledger processing and financial controls.

Knowledge of VAT legislation, tax reconciliations, and statutory compliance requirements.

Good understanding of debtor and creditor management processes.
-
Ability to effectively manage month-end and year-end accounting processes.

Proficiency in financial systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.

Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management

Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end financial reporting.
-
Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger through accurate processing and reconciliation activities.

Process journals and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.

Deliver reliable financial information to support decision-making and audit readiness.
Cashflow, Debtors & Creditors Management
-
Manage cashbooks and banking transactions accurately and efficiently.
-
Oversee debtor and creditor accounts, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.

Monitor and follow up on outstanding balances and account queries.
-
Support healthy cashflow management through effective payment and collection processes.
-
Maintain strong financial controls across all transactional activities.
Reconciliations, Compliance & Tax Administration
-
Perform and maintain balance sheet, GR/IR, VAT, and other key financial reconciliations.

Ensure timely and accurate tax submissions and compliance with statutory requirements.

Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies promptly.
-
Ensure adherence to IFRS, tax legislation, and internal financial control standards.

Support internal and external audit processes.
Financial Governance & Process Control
-
Strengthen financial governance through accurate verification and reporting controls.

Manage vendor administration and maintain complete financial documentation.

Monitor finance processes to ensure compliance, accountability, and operational efficiency.

Support the implementation and maintenance of effective internal controls.
Continuous Improvement & Team Support
-
Identify and implement opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting efficiency.
-
Support collaboration across departments to enhance financial performance and service delivery.
-
Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to finance employees and trainees.

Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
