About the Role
The Technical Intern supports the maintenance, repair, testing and serviceability of electronic and electro-mechanical products and systems to ensure reliable system performance and the fulfilment of contracted customer service requirements. The role provides structured practical exposure to fault finding, system integration, testing, maintenance and field support within a technical Radar environment, with a strong focus on learning and skills development.
Qualification and experience:
- Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
- 0–1 year of experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic components, equipment and/or systems.
- Exposure to or interest in the Defence, Aerospace, Aviation or Airport industry will be advantageous.
Key technical skills:
- Basic electronics and electronic component identification
- Interpretation of electronic circuit diagrams
- Wiring diagrams and schematics (foundational understanding)
- Introductory fault finding and diagnostic techniques
- Interpretation of basic electronic and mechanical drawings
- Use of electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes and power supplies (under supervision)
- Basic electronic and electro-mechanical system assembly and integration
- Introduction to acceptance testing and preventive maintenance techniques
Key responsibilities:
Fault Finding, Repair and Maintenance
Assist with fault finding, diagnostics, component identification, repair, testing and preventive maintenance of electronic assemblies and systems under supervision to identify and rectify technical defects and support equipment serviceability and reliability.
System Integration, Installation and Field Support
Assist with the assembly, installation, integration, modification, commissioning and field support of electronic and electro-mechanical systems to ensure systems are correctly implemented and operational at internal and customer sites, while developing practical technical competence.
Testing and Technical Verification
Support system testing, Acceptance Test Procedures and the use of electronic test equipment under guidance to verify system functionality and ensure products meet defined technical and performance requirements.
Quality, Configuration and Technical Documentation
Apply approved technical, quality and configuration management procedures under supervision and maintain accurate maintenance, test, repair and implementation records to ensure work is traceable, controlled and compliant with required standards.
Technical Learning and Capability Development
Actively participate in structured on-the-job training and practical technical activities across electronic systems, radar technology, maintenance and technical support to develop technical competence and transition into a fully capable technical role.
