About the Role
The Security Manager leads security operations and protective services across the organisation to safeguard employees, visitors, facilities, assets, classified information, intellectual property and business continuity. The role establishes effective security governance, manages operational risks and coordinates internal and external security resources to maintain a secure, compliant and resilient working environment.
Qualification and experience:
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Security Management, Police Science, Business Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years’ relevant experience in security or operational management, including demonstrated management experience.
- Experience in physical security, security governance, access control, surveillance systems and incident management.
- Working knowledge of applicable security legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Experience managing security budgets, contracts, service providers and operational risks.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the role.
- A postgraduate qualification in Security Management or Police Science at NQF Level 8 will be advantageous.
- A recognised investigation or fraud-examination certification, such as ACFE SA, will be advantageous.
- Experience within the defence industry, a National Key Point environment, law enforcement or another highly regulated environment will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:
Security Operations and Protective Controls
Manage physical, personnel and information-security controls across organisational operations to protect employees, visitors, facilities, assets, intellectual property and sensitive information, resulting in a secure and resilient business environment.
Security Governance Risk and Compliance
Establish and maintain security governance, policies, risk controls and compliance practices across the organisation to meet legislative, contractual, regulatory and internal requirements, resulting in reduced operational exposure and sustained business compliance.
Security Projects and Service Provider Management
Manage security projects, contractors, contracts and service providers against approved requirements and service-level agreements to maintain effective security controls and reliable service delivery, resulting in sustained operational security capability and value from contracted services.
Business Continuity Incident and Emergency Management
Coordinate business continuity, emergency preparedness, security-incident response and recovery activities across organisational operations to minimise disruption and protect critical functions, resulting in operational resilience and the timely restoration of business activities.
Security Leadership and Stakeholder Management
Lead security resources and coordinate relationships with employees, executives, authorities, security agencies, suppliers and other stakeholders to align security priorities and strengthen organisational capability, resulting in effective service delivery and stakeholder confidence.
