About the role

To perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on machinery, equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of industrial equipment, minimising downtime and supporting continuous production.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • National Diploma in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
  • 4–5 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Relevant on-the-job technical training
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems will be advantageous

 

Key Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
  • Experience with PLC-controlled and computerised manufacturing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding of vacuum and pneumatic systems
  • Advanced fault diagnosis and repair capability
  • Ability to work with specialised manufacturing equipment (e.g. optical/coating systems)

 

Key Responsibilities

Preventive and Planned Maintenance

  • Execute planned and preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing and production equipment to ensure optimal equipment reliability, availability, and operational continuity.

Fault Diagnosis and Equipment Repair

  • Diagnose equipment faults, breakdowns, and technical failures and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime and restore equipment functionality.

Maintenance Strategy and Technical Support

  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures, methods, and technical solutions for specialised manufacturing equipment to improve maintenance effectiveness and equipment performance.

Maintenance Resource and Spare Parts Control

  • Control the inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, consumables, and spare parts to ensure availability, cost control, and efficient maintenance operations.

Supplier, Emergency, and Operational Support

  • Coordinate with suppliers and service specialists and respond to emergency maintenance requirements and unplanned breakdowns to support continuous production operations and technical stability.
