About the Role

The Electronics Technician supports electronic product development, industrialisation and lifecycle activities by performing technical design, prototyping, fault finding, testing and production-support work in collaboration with engineers. The role contributes practical technical expertise throughout the development lifecycle to deliver reliable, manufacturable and properly documented electronic products and test solutions.

 

Qualification and experience:

  • National Diploma, National Higher Diploma or BTech in Electronic Engineering.
  • Practical experience in electronic hardware development, assembly, testing, debugging and fault finding.
  • Experience using electronic design, simulation and laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience producing or interpreting electronic drawings, circuit diagrams, PCB layouts and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to electronic product development, industrialisation or production-support environments will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

Technical Work Planning and Execution

Plan and execute authorised technical work packages in collaboration with engineers and project stakeholders to control scope, effort, cost and deliverables, resulting in traceable and timely completion of agreed engineering outputs.

 

Electronic Design and Development Support

Develop and detail electronic circuits, PCB layouts, cable looms, prototypes and supporting equipment against approved technical requirements to support engineering design objectives, resulting in functional and manufacturable technical solutions.

 

Prototyping, Testing and Fault Resolution

Build, test, debug and evaluate electronic designs, prototypes and hardware using approved laboratory methods and test equipment to verify performance and resolve technical defects, resulting in reliable solutions that meet defined functional requirements.

 

Industrialisation and Production Support

Develop test equipment, tooling, assembly instructions and test procedures while supporting production personnel and resolving assembly and test problems to enable effective product industrialisation, resulting in repeatable and efficient manufacturing processes.

 

Technical Documentation and Configuration Control

Create and maintain manufacturing drawings, technical records, test documentation and product data packs through approved engineering review and configuration-management processes to preserve product integrity and traceability, resulting in controlled and production-ready technical baselines.
