About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Production Engineer to support and lead multi-disciplinary teams in delivering high-quality manufacturing and assembly solutions. This role is central to driving concurrent engineering objectives—from concept development through to production line commissioning and final handover. You will play a key role in establishing and maintaining manufacturing baselines, ensuring production readiness, and enabling efficient, repeatable, and high-precision operations.
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Electronic Engineering or Industrial Engineering; Advanced Diploma preferred.
- Strong understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Solid experience in Manufacture & Assembly, applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) tools and principles.
- Knowledge of design optimisation, manufacturing technologies, and supplier development.
- Experience with high-precision manufactured products and technologies.
- Proven experience in production line design, commissioning, and optimisation.
Key technical skills
- Expertise in LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Experience in Producibility Analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and EN9145 principle.
- Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong understanding of product development and concurrent engineering processes.
- Skilled in Production Aid Documentation.
- Ability to extract and apply Product Life Cycle requirements into DFMA solutions.
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and quality control techniques.
- Experience in precision assembly, alignment, and testing techniques.
Key responsibilities
1. Producibility Analysis
- Collaborate with Product Development Teams to evaluate multiple concepts from a DFMA perspective.
- Define and mature Assembly and Test strategies aligned with product lifecycle.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams.
- Contribute to Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) plans.
- Ensure products are producible, repeatable, and maintainable.
2. Assembly line requirements and design
- Perform workflow analysis and workstation design/layout.
- Define Tooling and Jig Fixtures (TJF) and assembly equipment.
- Manage scheduling, contracting, and cost tracking for tooling and test equipment.
- Oversee workstation builds and collaborate with operations stakeholders.
- Define workforce requirements and align with Operations Management.
3. Manufacturing baseline design and SAP requirements
- Establish and maintain assembly/support line baselines and operational procedures.
- Develop documentation for training, production, testing, quality control, and repair.
- Maintain all production SAP data (routings, costing, BOMs, etc.).
4. Assembly line commissioning and acceptance
- Lead the setup of production and assembly lines with cross-functional teams.
- Conduct Production Readiness Reviews.
- Ensure Pre-Production Models (PPMs) meet baseline requirements.
- Validate throughput performance of production lines.
- Coordinate training and final handover to Operations Management.
