About the role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Product Development Technician to support the development, assembly, testing, and verification of cutting-edge hardware products. In this role, you will work closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product builds, accurate testing, and efficient lab operations. Qualifications and experience
- Minimum T3 / N6 / S4 Diploma in Electronic Engineering; B-Tech or Advanced Diploma in Electronic Engineering advantageous.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a product development environment.
- Exposure to RF (Radio Frequency) measurements is advantageous.
- IPC certification is beneficial.
- Experience working with analog and digital electronics and associated test equipment.
Key technical skills
- Working knowledge of RF concepts and the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) environment.
- Understanding of electromagnetics and RF principles.
- Ability to compile and contribute to technical documentation (Acceptance Test Procedures, Test Reports, Result Records).
- Proficiency in computer systems, hardware, and network setup.
- Experience with operating systems installation and maintenance (Linux, Windows, Windows Server).
- Familiarity with requirements management and defect tracking tools.
Key responsibilities
1. Product assembly and integration
- Interpret electronic schematics and assembly drawings to execute precise builds.
- Perform high-quality assembly of RF sub-assemblies, Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), cables, and mechanical components.
- Support system-level integration and evaluation of products.
- Prepare and manage component batching and kitting processes.
2. Product verification and testing
- Conduct product verification against specifications and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP).
- Record, analyze, and report test results with accuracy.
- Execute validation testing and support field trials and system testing activities.
- Maintain defect logs and update requirements management systems.
3. Technical documentation and reporting
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation, including test procedures and reports.
- Review and provide input on assembly and test documentation.
- Support product training activities where required.
4. Infrastructure and lab environment management
- Set up and maintain IT and test infrastructure (including networks, routers, and TCP/IP configurations).
- Maintain PC environments across Linux, Windows, and Windows Server platforms.
- Ensure lab readiness through proper equipment setup and maintenance.
5. Lab operations and continuous improvement
- Manage lab inventory, including components and consumables.
- Maintain organized and efficient workspace aligned with 5S principles.
- Support ad hoc operational activities such as shipping, training, and logistics as required.
