About the Role

HENSOLDT Radar is seeking a highly skilled Lead Electronic Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role plays a pivotal part in the design, development, assembly, testing, and verification of advanced hardware products, covering disciplines such as Radio Frequency (RF), Antennas, Digital, Firmware and Embedded Software, Mixed-Signal (incl. Power Supply), and Signal Processing Software.

 

As the Lead Electronic Engineer, you will not only drive technical excellence but also mentor and manage a team of engineers, ensuring product development aligns with project, quality, and customer requirements.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Eng in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 7+ years’ applicable development experience, including team leadership or management.
  • Proven expertise in at least one discipline: RF, Antennas, Digital, Mixed-Signal, Embedded Software, or Signal Processing.

 

Key Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Product Development Processes and disciplined project environments.
  • Advanced skills in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Simulation tools, Printed circuit board (PCB) layout tools, and engineering design calculations.
  • Proven track record in functional design, verification, and compliance testing.
  • Analytical problem-solving with creative, innovative thinking.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering, environmental testing, and industrialisation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Roadmap & Strategy

  • Provide input on latest technology trends to Product Owners and Managers.
  • Translate high-level product specifications into detailed module-level requirements.

2. Product Development Execution

  • Lead research, design, and development activities in line with the Product Development process.
  • Oversee all design phases: concept, simulation, prototyping, reviews, schematic & PCB layout, and qualification testing.
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability via HALT testing and environmental qualification (Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)).
  • Support industrialisation: producibility reviews, Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) documentation, test jig/software specification, and production readiness reviews.

3. Product Documentation & Processes

  • Manage requirements, specifications, and baseline documentation (ATP, Test Readiness Review (TRR), Interface Control Document (ICD), etc.).
  • Handle obsolescence management, configuration control, and change processes.
  • Support product managers with fault report investigations and retrofit actions.

4. Internal & Financial Management

  • Provide technical support to production, assisting in solving assembly and test challenges.
  • Participate in cost estimation and Shop Replaceable Unit (SRU)/Line Replacement Unit (LRU)-level cost accounting.
  • Ensure effective task planning, scheduling, and delivery against project milestones.

5. Supplier & Service Provider Management

  • Support supplier identification, evaluation, and technical issue resolution.

6. People Management & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the engineering team to achieve targets in quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one performance and development reviews.
  • Define and implement training needs and technical upskilling initiatives.
  • Manage team administration (leave, disciplinary processes, induction, promotions, performance management).
